I'm not sure this is a cry for help or a real bugreport...
I just can't get AC3 (software decoding from a divx file) to work.
I fetched the mplayer cvs 20020506, copied ffmpeg's cvs libavcodec into it,
then configured and built mplayer.
While playing:
[snip]
Detected audio codec: [ac3] drv:3 (AC3)
Initializing audio codec...
Requested audio codec family [ac3] (vfm=3) not available (enable it at
compile time!)
Couldn't initialize audio codec! -> nosound
[snip]
However, when I do mplayer -ac help:
[snip]
ac3 3 working AC3 [libac3]
[snip]
This is odd...
This is the end of my configure:
  Enabled optional drivers:
Input: network tv dvdcss mpdvdkit vcd
    Codecs: libavcodec directshow win32
    Audio output: oss sdl
Video output: xvidix sdl vesa mpegpes(file) fbdev dga xv x11
This is the first megabyte from the file I tried to play:
http://et.yi.org/head.avi (please don't all jump on it, my upload is only
128kbit).
The 5mb version is in the incoming directory on the ftp server.
I found help on irc, (openprojects) "StuckMojo" tried to guide me trough a
couple of things, however...
When he tried to play the file, he got:
<StuckMojo> Detected audio codec: [a52] drv:14 (AC3-liba52)
<StuckMojo> Selecting Audio Decoder: [liba52] AC3-liba52
Perhaps this is due the fact he has ->
<StuckMojo> here's the end of my ./configure
<StuckMojo> Enabled optional drivers:
<StuckMojo> Input: network tv dvdread vcd
<StuckMojo> Codecs: divx5linux libavcodec directshow win32
<StuckMojo> Audio output: oss
<StuckMojo> Video output: xvidix vesa jpeg png mpegpes(file) fbdev dga
xv x11
-> "divx5linux"?
He has sound output...
