i've heard it's not a good idea, but i'm exploring all the ways i can 
think of really.

well i'm on PAL if that changes anything.

the test ones i'm doing are around 300mb.

I also tried this method but it does not seek correctly. i say -ss 100 and 
it goes to 125, i say -ss 200 and it goes to 250. it adds on an extra 25% 
exactly. i would presume this comes down as a bug somewhere along the 
line? should I be forcing an fps within the stream dumop somehow? again 
this is relatively small files, 200-300mb trailers etc...
